“Will he stay or will he go now”?
Many of us have heard the rumors about Rays GM Andrew Friedman that branched off the firing of Cubs GM Jim Hendry on Friday. The Cubs have an vacant spot in their front office, and they’re out on a mission to find the best General Manager they can get. Unfortunately for the Rays, Andrew Friedman’s name comes up on that list. The Cubs and their owner, Tom Ricketts, know very well that Friedman is one of the best GMs in the MLB. 
One feature Friedman has that attracts the Cubs, is that he isn’t under any contract with the Rays. But there’s a lot to like about Friedman. He has 6 years of experience with VP of Baseball Operations with the Rays, he turned a franchise around and won a pennant with a minimal payroll, and he is liked among the players. Ex-Rays Matt Garza and Carlos Pena, who are Cubs, spoke up about Friedman. Pena talked about how he turned a losing Devil Ray team into an American League champ. Garza said how he would love to have Friedman in Chicago. The Chicago Cubs are not the only underachieving NL team to target Friedman as a possible GM. The Astros are also interested in him. Kenny Friedman, Andrew’s father, has actually been interested in buying the club. If he does one day end up buying the Astros, it will be interesting how that plays out. Some good news about the Andrew Friedman rumors, is that he’s not the only GM that interests the Cubs. Brian Cashman name has come up, along with the A’s GM Billy Bean. 
Cashman’s contract expires at the end of the season, so hopefully that’s a beacon in the Cubs’ interest. It’s always nice to know that you have a guy in the front office that always takes care of things. That’s why it’s great to have Andrew Friedman in town.

The Rays Rant 
I’ve heard Friedman’s name, but I honestly don’t know much about him. I do know that the Cubs are beginning their search now and hope to hire someone as soon as possible after the season ends.

Friedman is arguably the best GM in baseball. That’s why I’m worried that the Cubs might give him a huge offer. Cubs fan should hope to have this guy in the front office for sure.
Granted plenty of strange and unexpected personnel moves have happened this season, but I don’t think you have too much to worry about. The Rays organization seems pretty tight knit and genuinely Rays fans. It makes sense, they’ve built the team up from shakey new kid on the block to frequent Yankee killers with the pitching firm of Shields and Price (Love that fancave bit and both pitchers, actually!). For guys like Friedman, I think the Rays are their baby and leaving isn’t really a possibility on the table.

I agree with Kristen. Friedman is too close in Tampa to walk away without his ultimate goal achieved.
As for Cashman, he’s actually one of the worst GM’s in the game, he just happens to have a lot of money at his disposal. I would say he has about a 50/50 success rate with his deals. For every C.C. he brings in, there’s a Carl Pavano or Javier Vazquez.

That could be me with my dog Kenzo he will not do what I want him too either! LOL I was told by some leaids a couple of years ago when I visited Paris that you are not allowed to have your dog inthe grounds of the Palais Royal. Needless to say this lady with her two shih tzu’s didn’t care and then I saw a man with two cairn terriers!
I can handle this one, RR.Yes, you’re right, the SEC acotin is civil. They seek to recover the profits (or losses avoided, and injunctive relief (which is a bigger deal than it sounds, it disqualifies you from a lot of exemptive provisions under the securities laws.)DOJ didn’t used to like these kind of cases. They were difficult to prosecute and not “sexy.” But now the regulators and Justice have been working much more closely (post-Enron) and parallel proceedings aren’t unusual.The amount of $$ isn’t substantial here but a lot of bang for the prosecutorial buck with the celebrity factor.

What you said about Cashman is very true. Cashman is a horrible GM, he just has so much money to work with that he can’t fail that bad. It’ll be really funny if the Cubs get stuck with him, than they might have to wait another 100 years.
I would hate to see the Cubs wait another 100 years but I hope they pick Cashman or anyone but not Friedman.Go Rays!!!
I’m not familiar with Twitter alohguth I understand how it works. I used to make light of Facebook calling it Spacebook or Wastebook . Then my Athletic Director asked me to communicate with my players and their parents in my position as a high school soccer coach last year. It’s worked very well, and I am now a Facebook aficionado. I use it every day for both personal and business promotion. Maybe I’ll be tweeting soon.
